Marginal Science Park:
As we had discussed in the last pin-up, there is a need for the marginal systems to be grounded, or respond to our immediate site.  In order to retain the site and integrate the systems, a series of trenches connecting to a series of basins throughout the site can fragment the water collection (normally occurring at the bottom of the site). The trenches were mapped by looking first at water flow through the site, then using a zigzag patterned across to help retain the land. The intersections were then expanded to form basins.
The platforms will exist between the basins allowing the systems easy access to water. Piping will connect the platforms to each other as well as the water basins. This piping is still in its early stages, but I am going to extend this piping above the platforms to create shading structures. These structures will depend on the type of system existing on the platform and the most ecological use of the piping.
Pumping the water up to these platforms has also been considered through the development of anther system. The human water pump will be integrated with site accessibility. Some animations linked below demonstrate these pumps on a larger scale (needing 2-3 people to operate) and the smaller scale (water pumping staircase).
